Shadow of memory draws on dissipative structure theory as a metaphor for psychological and environmental processes that evolve out of highly unstable conditions. Instead of degrading towards the point of entropy, dissipative structures are stabilised by energy exchanges with the outside world and result in new orders of organisation from the point of chaos.
